Appointments

appointment_1

Requests for appointments can be made in person at the surgery or by telephone, between 9.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.

You may also book an appointment online with the doctor. Please contact reception for further details and a registration form. Once you have registered you can access the online booking facility through www.patient.co.uk and sign into Patient Access.

We offer 10 minute appointments and have a triage system, for medical emergencies.

Please note; If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you may be asked to wait or offered another appointment.

We can arrange interpretation and translation services for patients who do not speak English. Please let us know when booking an appointment if you need this service.

Routine Appointments

Please book advanced appointments before leaving the practice as requested by doctor/nurse.  You can book to see our nurse for lifestyle advise/long term chronic conditions/smoking/etc. at any appointment.  Immunisations are on set days but if you cannot attend you can make an appointment to suit.

Some appointments require more time and need to be booked with appropriate clinician, this is why important to ask what the appointment is for. We have a practice schedule which has whom to book appointment with?, how long required?, depending on reason of appointment. For example for long term chronic condition an appointment will need 20-30 minutes.

Same Day Appointments

Same day appointments are useful for patients who need to be seen for medical attention on that day.  As the practice has a high rate of did not attend same day appointments help to offer patients appointments who need to be seen.

Urgent Appointments

For urgent appointments, we ask that you telephone or attend the surgery and your details will be put in the triage book for the Doctor/Nurse to contact you and assess whether you need to be seen on the same day.

Triage

All messages are triaged and time is allocated for the doctor or nurse to telephone patients. Please ensure a contact telephone number is given.  If your condition deteriorates please call the practice again.

Difficulties Getting an Appointment

Our busy days are Mondays, and busiest before 10.30am. If your appointment is not urgent, try to book on a less busy day and after 10.30am.

What If I Can't Get an Appointment?

If you cannot get an appointment the reception staff will take a message and leave for the attention of doctor/nurse who will call you back and triage.

Missed Appointments

We are constantly trying to improve what we do for our patients. One thing we would like to do is reduce the number of missed appointments. Currently more than 100 appointments are missed each month. Missed appointments increase the wait for routine appointments for other patients. If you have ever had difficulty getting a routine appointment this is part of the reason. Please tell us in good time if you do not need your appointment –we can offer it to someone else.
